CED Technology Services
As we begin online instruction for the remainder of the semester I wanted to share that the IT Staff (Tom, Chris, and I) have been working hard the past two weeks to get systems, processes, and equipment set up to support faculty as they convert their courses to an online format. Information on these systems, processes, and resources have already been emailed to faculty.
At this time the CED staff is honoring the University's guidelines regarding working from home as much as possible. The best way to reach us is by emailing email@example.com. Please try to avoid emailing one of us directly for two reasons 1) we are getting a lot of emails and we don't want yours to get lost and 2) since we are working apart it is easier for us to support each other when we all know what tasks need to be done and our ticketing system is ideal for this need.
All CED buildings will remain locked the remainder of the semester with only faculty and staff access. Please watch UGA official announcements for when our campus will reopen.
Equipment checkout from CED has been suspended until further notice. We are attempting to get all the equipment that was checked out before spring break returned. If you have not already returned your equipment or contacted us to make arrangements for equipment return please do so as soon as possible.
The University's VPN services to access on-campus server resources are limited. Please try to avoid logging in to the VPN and opening files on the server to work on them. Instead, connect to the VPN, copy the server file to your local computer, and close the connection while you are working.
As we make this collective transition to a new learning process the CED IT staff will continue to work hard to offer support, improvements, and updates whether we are working on-campus or from home. Please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we appreciate your patience as we also adjust to the new work environment and increased number of support requests.
