HIPR6900: THESIS PREPARATION-AN INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH STRATEGIES
The motto of the University of Georgia, et docere et rerum exquirere causas, exhorts the university community to ‘enquire into the nature of things’. This course examines the student role in the university’s research efforts, and specifically, the thesis prepared as part of the MHP program. Upon completion of this course, students will be aware of basic research methods,, understand the nature of a thesis within our field, and develop a defensible thesis proposal.
We will approach the course content within three broad categories: research methods and tools, elements of a thesis, and development of a thesis proposal. A draft proposal will be due after spring break; and during ‘jury week,’ students will present final proposals within in a public forum.
