Scott Messer, Director of Historic Preservation in the Office of University Architects for Facility Planning, will present the UGA Historic Preservation Master Plan on Monday, March 26th at 5 p.m. in lecture hall 123 of the Jackson Street Building. The public is welcome.

Messer (MHP ’96) served as the historic preservation master plan project manager, coordinated with the President’s Historic Preservation Master Plan Steering Committee, and was responsible for plan conceptualization as well as solicitation and procurement of the project’s consultant team.

The historic preservation master plan is a combination of inventory and standard operating procedures to direct the University in compliance with the Georgia Environmental Policy Act and the State Stewardship law. Because UGA is a statewide entity, the plan touches many resources throughout the state, in addition to the main Athens campus. Included in the masterplan are 4-H camps and other agricultural extension sites, UGA campuses in Griffin and Tifton, the Marine Institute at Sapelo and the Skidaway Institute for Oceanography, among others.
