Pratt Cassity Retires as Director of the CED’s Center for Community Design and Preservation
For over thirty years Pratt Cassity brought a unique and productive creative spirit to the College of Environment and Design. Pratt’s retirement February 1st, 2018 as director of the Center for Community Design and Preservation means the end of an era, but not the end of the positive change he brought to so many communities across the state of Georgia, the U.S., and abroad. His work organizing people and their ideas and hopes for their communities—whether in a small village in Ghana or a small town in rural Georgia—will be felt for generations to come. Combining his design skills with daring ways to look at complex problems, and a heartfelt appreciation for people, Pratt’s vision for making the world a better place has inspired generations of CED students. We wish Pratt well and thank him for his loyalty, his dedication to doing good in the world, and for bringing a sense of humor to design challenges that so often seemed intractable or hopeless.
