UGA College of Environment and Design (CED) is #1 in the nation as the school from which professional design firms claim to hire the most graduates. In schools that graduate over 35 students per year, CED is the top provider of the professional workforce as determined by Design Intelligence. In this category of schools, CED beat such design powerhouses as those at the University of Pennsylvania, Berkeley, and Harvard. Over 6000 professional firms were surveyed in this year’s ranking process.

Design Intelligence is an independent company that supports professional design organizations in landscape architecture and allied professions with research, networks, and public and privately commissioned studies. Each year the company surveys professionals throughout the U.S. to determine trends in these disciplines and ranks educational institutions on numerous levels. UGA CED was recently ranked fourth in the nation for its undergraduate degree, the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, and eighth in the nation for it graduate program. (There are over 50 landscape architecture schools in the U.S.)

“We have been teaching landscape architecture for ninety years here at UGA. We are proud of our students and our program, which continues to fuel the design profession with energetic, well-trained young professionals. This announcement by Design Intelligence is just one more indication that CED is fulfilling its mission to train productive, skilled designers who are ready to take on the challenges of our times,” says Dean Sonia Hirt.
