Open-rank, tenure-track position in Architectural History
Position:
The College of Environment and Design (CED) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor in architectural history, beginning in the 2022 Fall term. The successful candidate will have expertise in the history of the nineteenth and twentieth-century U.S. built environment.
The successful candidate will teach courses related to their expertise and research interests that contribute to any of the CED program areas, in addition to surveys of American architecture, a required course within the historic preservation program.
The successful applicant will also develop and maintain a relevant research program of national and international distinction, supervise graduate student research, and serve on reading committees. Service requirements include participation in college and university committees, and in relevant scholarly and professional organizations.
Applicants should indicate if they have expertise in any other area that might contribute to the broader mission of the CED as a design school, in terms of current or potential programs; this might include fields such as healthy communities, heritage and real estate/land development, architectural design, or inclusive communities.
College:
The College of Environment and Design has its origins in 1928, with the founding of
one of the region's oldest landscape architecture programs. Today, we offer undergraduate
and graduate degrees across three disciplinary areas—historic preservation, landscape
architecture, and urban planning and design; a PhD program in environmental design
and planning; and a campus-wide certificate program in environmental ethics. The College
also participates in several interdisciplinary certificate programs.

Minimum qualifications:
- PhD in architectural history (or closely related area)
Preferred qualifications:
- record of scholarly research
- teaching history, especially at the graduate level
