Dean Sonia Hirt speaks on land-use and affordable housing for Bipartisan Policy Center

Bipartisan Policy Center Panel

Dean Sonia Hirt participates in an expert panel discussion on the intersections between land-use law and housing affordability at the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) in Washington, DC.

Dean Sonia Hirt recently participated in a panel discussion entitled Getting Serious About Housing Supply: Addressing Restrictive Zoning and Land-Use Policies. The panel addressed ideas for reforming current land-use regulations and policies to increase the production of housing in the United States and improve access to affordable housing for Americans of all social and economic strata. The discussion was led by BPC’s Executive Director Dennis Shea. In addition to Dr. Hirt, experts included: Professor Sara Bronin (Cornell University), Mike Kingsella (Chief Executive Officer of Up for Growth), Councilwoman Alyia Gaskins (City Council of Alexandria, VA), and Alex Salazar (Salazar Architect Inc. in Portland, OR).

According to BPC’s website, “The Bipartisan Policy Center is a Washington, DC-based think-tank that actively fosters bipartisanship by combining the best ideas from both parties to promote health, security and opportunity for all Americans. Our policy solutions are the product of informed deliberations by former elected and appointed officials, business and labor leaders, and academics who represent both sides of the political spectrum.”
