Zhongzhe Shen is an assistant professor at the College of Environment and Design, holding a Ph.D. in Architecture and Design Research with a focus on Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech. He also has a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. Zhongzhe’s research spans landscape performance, climate change, sustainability, data visualization, and the integration of emerging technologies in landscape architecture.
His work primarily centers on the quantification of landscape performance and the enhancement of measurement systems and guidelines. He is particularly interested in how emerging technologies can be leveraged to improve landscape performance. His interdisciplinary approach combines elements from landscape architecture, mechanical engineering, and ecological systems, aiming to address environmental, social, and economic sustainability challenges.
Zhongzhe is committed to sharing the outcomes of his research, having presented papers at multiple international conferences. His professional experience includes working as a landscape architect at both national and international design firms.
