Dean Sonia Hirt’s book titled “Zoned in the USA: The Origins and Implications of American Land-Use Regulation” was designated as one of the Top 14 books in urban planning of the DECADE (2009-2019). The list was created by Planetizen–the only US urban planning platform that ranks urban planning programs, as well as books in urbanism and urban planning. Hirt’s book explores the history and present state of US urban planning regulations as compared to those of select other nations. In 2016, Planetizen included the book in its annual Top 10 list.
