CED’s disciplines are valued for their contribution to community and economic development and in developing the state’s leaders to address sustainability, quality growth, heritage tourism, food insecurity, coastal resiliency and related issues.
Through CED’s engagement and outreach endeavors, Georgia communities receive high-quality design and planning services they could not otherwise afford while students receive the practical hands-on experience that makes them more marketable as graduates.
The Center for Community Design and Preservation (CCDP), provides community-based design solutions as a public service for the state and the College’s academic programs. CCDP links students and faculty to local issues across Georgia through experiential research and service-learning.
CCDP prioritizes projects for rural areas, underserved neighborhoods, non-profits, school campuses, and small downtowns. The public is encouraged to submit a request if you have a project that our students, faculty, or outreach staff may be able to assist with.
