In March of this year, CED’s Associate Dean Ashley Steffens was inducted into The Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) 2022 Academy of Fellows at their annual conference. Inductees to the Academy of Fellows represent the highest level of achievement within the CELA membership. This honor celebrates educators who actively embody the CELA mission to “support educators to advance the [landscape architecture] profession“ through their accomplishments in teaching, scholarship, creative activity, and service.
As an Associate Professor, the first female Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for CED, and a former CELA President, Steffens’ work has impacted landscape architecture students’ learning experiences at CED and beyond. Her dedication to students as an educator, administrator, and leader all contribute to her research work as well. Her book Computer Graphics for Landscape Architects, an Introduction is based on her pedagogical approach in and extensive experience with design studios. Steffens also initiated the CELA Global Investiture Fund which provides funding to support environmentally responsible and socially equitable decision making in organizing the CELA annual conference.
We congratulate Associate Dean Steffens for this recent award and for all of her contributions to landscape architecture here at UGA and in the field at large!
