MHP Graduate Coordinator James Reap Attends Conference in Estonia

MHP Graduate Coordinator James Reap recently went to Tallinn, Estonia to participate an International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) conference. The conference’s theme was Historical Perspective of Heritage Legislation: Balance Between Laws and Values and commemorated the 350th Anniversary of the 1666 Act by King Charles XI of Sweden which was one of the earliest heritage protection acts in Europe. The conference all occurred in the year of the 50th Anniversary of the Tallinn Old Town Conservation Area. While there, Professor Reap presented his paper titled “What’s Old is New Again: Charles XI’s Conservation Act Viewed from 21st Century America”.
