Congratulations to BLA student Karlie Roper who provided the winning concept for the CED’s 50th Anniversary logo! Karlie is a first year BLA who, clearly, has a design career ahead of her. Her design, which she composed in InDesign, provided the basic elements for the logo, which becomes the mark for our year-long anniversary celebration as a school and college (1969-2019). Eleonora Machado and members of the CED Logo Competition team futher refined Karlie’s design to produce the final logo by evaluating several potential applications and iterations. Karlie’s winning entry translated into a $500 scholarship here at CED.
Second place for the logo design went to BLA Kinsey Bullock ($250) and Honors ($100 each) went to Greg Huber, MLA student, and Anna Leigh Turner, BLA. There were 63 entries in the 50th Anniversary Logo competition.
The months long competition was part of the kick-off of the college’s anniversary celebration which will take place during the academic year 2019-2020 and includes a special exhibition of the history of CED in the Circle Gallery (August 2019- February 2020), numerous lectures, a symposium, an exhibit by painter and alumnus Philip Juras, a spring gala celebration on Herty Field and acknowledgement of 50 of the most influential people of the CED.
Congratulations to our students and we look forward to celebrating with everyone in the coming year. Stay tuned for news about upcoming events!
