Valuing Infrastructure to Avoid the Bumps in the Road: Research, Reporting, and Advocacy
Join the Office of Research for the 2025 George H. Boyd Distinguished Lecture with Dr. Marsha Anderson Bomar, Ph.D. ’24.
Dr. Marsha Anderson Bomar is currently a Transportation Strategic Advisor to GHD. She is the Commissioner Emeritus of the City of Atlanta Department of Transportation following her service as the Assistant General Manager of MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transit Authority) for Capital Program Delivery. Dr. Anderson Bomar was the Founder and President of Street Smarts, Inc., a planning, engineering and design firm, and Data Smarts, a data collection and management firm, established in 1990. She is an International Past President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers as well as the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Transportation and Development Institute. Most recently she was elected to the National Academy of Engineering and as the ASCE 2025 President-Elect.
Dr. Anderson Bomar earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master in Transportation Planning and Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. She also holds a Master of Civil Engineering from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning and Design from the University of Georgia. She is the author of hundreds of publications, articles, and studies, and an international speaker on technical subjects as well as Leadership and Ethics.
