Dr. Wayde Brown Presents Paper at Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany

Dr. Wayde Brown, Associate Professor in the Historic Preservation program, recently presented a paper at the Ruhr University, in Bochum, Germany. The conference theme was Metropolitan Masculinities: Narratives of Gender and Urban Space, and included participants from India and Morocco, as well as several European countries, and the United States. Dr. Brown’s paper, entitled ‘Gay By Design: Memorial, History, and Identity’, explored the representation of ‘gay male’ within the design of memorials associated with LGBTQ history, especially those remembering the AIDS epidemic and the imprisonment of gay men in Nazi concentration camps.
