MLA Student Receives ASAI Award

Master of Landscape Architecture student Madelaine Kinnebrew has been given a Student Award of Distinction in the American Society of Architectural Illustrator’s (ASAI) 36th Architecture in Perspective Professional and Student Competition.

Madelaine studied advanced graphics under Dr. Jessica Fernandez. She describes the inspiration for her work Nighttime:

“The vibrance of the blues and orange tones of this nighttime setting set the colors forward to provide a sense of depth within a poster-like rendering. Geometric shapes make up organic forms and layered colors convey the energy and warmth of the home and the contrast of the distance and slumber of the city beyond. The colors remind me of a poster I once saw on a wall; it left so much to interpret and imagine, an energetic image capturing the movement and connection among the colors. This rendering was conceptualized and inspired by a model constructed using a visualization platform.”

The competition winners can be viewed here and the Architecture in Perspective catalog where Madelaine’s work will be published can be purchased at https://www.asai.org/product/architecture-in-perspective-36-catalog.
