Georgia Students of Landscape Architecture

Georgia Students of Landscape Architecture (GSLA) is the student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), which is the nationally recognized professional organization for landscape architecture. This school year, GSLA’s mission is to enrich knowledge of landscape architecture, connect students with our professional world, and promote sustainable design through design charrettes, networking activities, and community outreach. The officers would love to see a high level of participation among students throughout our college so that we as a college can promote our profession while gaining experience outside of the classroom.

Members of the UGA Planning Dawgs gathered togetherPlanning Dawgs

The Student Planning Association (SPA) began as an opportunity for students interested in planning to pursue projects outside of the day-to-day curriculum. Through networking events, learning opportunities, and volunteer work, students will engage with the university and the larger Athens community. Though currently an organization through the University of Georgia Center for Student Organizations, the organization hopes to become associated with the American Planning Association in the near future to promote relationships on a local, national, and international level. We welcome opportunities to become involved in planning projects through the University and Athens-Clarke County and to partner with other like-minded organizations.

We also focus on the climate within the program and college, trying to ensure that all students feel welcomed and that we are unified in creating a successful program and overall environment. To achieve this, we host tailgates for every home game, have monthly meetings to catch up on both planning and personal topics and take on projects to improve our building facilities.
