Assistant Professor

The CED invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting August 2026. The selected individual will teach in the Master of Urban Planning and Design program, pursue scholarly research and provide public service and outreach. The ideal candidate will have a degree in architecture or urban design, be comfortable with planning studio pedagogy and have an interest or expertise at the intersection of health, well-being, and urban planning and design. Evaluation of candidates will begin on Nov. 15.

Assistant or Associate Professor in Health and the Built Environment

Historic Preservation
Candidates may examine connections between health, community wellbeing, cultural landscapes, environmental justice, adaptive reuse, the heritage of medical- and health-related built environments, or the health implications of historic environments. Teaching may include preservation planning, cultural landscapes, interpretation, preservation theory, or related coursework.

Landscape Architecture
Candidates may focus on health-supportive design, health care facility design, healthy living, therapeutic landscapes, human–environment interactions, or related areas. Teaching responsibilities may include design studios and seminar or lecture courses aligned with expertise.

Urban Planning and Design
Candidates may focus on healthy communities planning, environmental justice, transportation and health, or regional planning. Teaching may include planning studios, methods courses, and seminars related to health and the built environment.

This is a tenure-track, 9-month academic-year appointment beginning August 1, 2026.

Academic Professional Associate and Facilities Manager

This position directly oversees and coordinates facilities planning, procurement, administration, and data analysis with the College of Environment and Design (CED) at the University of Georgia. This position reports directly to and confers regularly with the College leadership and is responsible for managing activities related to facilities, procurement, and data analysis. They coordinate work between the College and various UGA offices, including the Office of University Architects and UGA Facilities Management Division, purchasing furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and assisting with reporting. They will also be responsible for teaching up to 3 classes or 10 credit hours a year.
