Jessica Fernandez, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the UGA College of Environment and Design. Dr. Fernandez is founder of the Relationships in Environment and Design Lab (REDLab) where she facilitates research at the intersection of technology, place, and mental health and wellness. She graduated from the Planning, Design, and the Built Environment Ph.D. program at Clemson University in 2018 and received Master of Landscape Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design degrees from Auburn University. She is published in notable journals in her field such as Landscape and Urban Planning, Cities, Landscape Journal, Sustainable Cities and Society, and Sustainability. As an award-winning educator, Dr. Fernandez currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in landscape architectural planting design and advanced design communication. Dr. Fernandez is also a licensed landscape architect, campus planner, and LEED Accredited Professional in Neighborhood Development and has practiced on a variety of award-winning projects nationwide.
