ACCELERATED MHP/MUPD PROGRAM
The intent of this degree is to offer students the combination of a MHP and MUPD degree, but in fewer number of years than if the two degrees were taken separately. Students who wish to complete a MUPD degree in addition to the MHP may take advantage of the accelerated MUPD option, with approval of the MUPD Coordinator, a signed and approved program of study is developed for those student who qualify for a “waiver” consideration.
The minimum number of credit hours that must be taken under any waver option is 32, including the thesis or non-thesis option. The required courses for the accelerated option are:
- PLAN 6520: Environmental Planning and Design Studio (Large Scale) 4 hours
- PLAN 6540: Environmental Planning and Design Studio II (Mid Scale) 4 hours
- PLAN 6560: Environmental Planning and Design Studio III (Small Scale) 4 hours (waived only for a student with a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture)
- PLAN 7300: Thesis or PLAN 7200: Practicum
Other required courses for the Master of Urban Planning and Design listed in the brochure may be waived on a case by case basis, depending on the accelerated student’s previous experience and/or education. However, an accelerated program could require as many as 45 credit hours.
