Natural Engagement: Where Earth Meets Sky

Paintings by Rachel Evans Grant

 

The Circle Gallery at the UGA College of Environment and Design will host an exhibit of paintings by Atlanta artist Rachel Evans Grant titled, Natural Engagement: Where Earth Meets Sky. The exhibit is free and open to the public and will run from Jan. 19th through April 15th, 2021 in the Jackson Street Building. Visitors are asked to wear a mask and keep a six-foot distance. Rachel Evans GrantGrant is a visual artist and educator with an interest in promoting the importance of creative influence on communities. She is a former studio resident at the Goat Farm Arts Center and currently works from her home studio. A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design [SCAD], she earned an M.F.A. in Painting and an M.A. in Arts Administration. During her graduate studies she interned with David Zwirner Gallery in New York city, worked in the studio of contemporary American artist Lesley Dill and with the estate of influential abstract artist Mildred Thompson in Atlanta, Georgia. She also serves as a volunteer art instructor with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and has taught art workshops with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Having exhibited throughout the United States, Hong Kong, and France and completed a residency at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York City, Grant is currently represented by Brickworks Gallery in Atlanta. Her artwork is included in private and corporate collections including the DeSoto Savannah by Sotherly hotels, and has been acquired by both Auburn University and the Savannah College of Art and Design.
