Landscape Architecture + Planning Career and Internship Fair - Student Perspective

February 6, 2018, Jackson Street Building

UGA’s Career Center and the CED partnered this month to setup The Landscape Architecture + Planning Career and Internship Fair. The event, lasting from 1:30 – 4:30 pm, offered many students the opportunity to see what all their hard work is driving them towards. Students at all levels of educational experience were given the chance to chat and present their portfolios/resumes in hopes of future internships and jobs.

Some students, like first year MLA student Deborah Kim, were able to walk away with a better understanding of what potential future employers would be expecting. Kim said, “It was very helpful, I thought it was nice going in with no pressure as a first year being able to ask a lot of questions of people who are in current practice. It was great to get perspective from actual employers of what they are looking for from students. They were all very eager to give advice too!”

As third year MLA Daniel Schwartz put it, “It was encouraging to see so many firms eager to talk with us and looking to hire people at the entry level. It’s clearly a good time to be graduating in terms of the market! It was also a great opportunity to practice networking, and I came away feeling more confident and well-prepared as I start the job hunt.”
