Timothy Brown has been hired as the Communications, Marketing and Recruitment Specialist for the College of Environment and Design. Brown will lead public relations efforts for the college, showcasing the work of the landscape architecture, historic preservation, and planning programs.
Leah Melnik has joined the College of Environment and Design as the Graduate Program Administrator for the Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation and Urban Planning and Design programs.
An intimate gathering was held last night in Founders Memorial Garden to celebrate the retirements of several CED colleagues. With the early golden hour light of Fall as a backdrop and champagne in hand, we toasted Brian Orland, Brian LaHaie, and Paul MacGregor, who retired earlier this year, as well as Jack Crowley, Melissa Tufts and Donna Gabriel, who are retiring at the end of December.

The CED welcomes Paul MacGregor as the new curator of the historic Founders Memorial Garden. Paul, who holds degrees in horticulture and agricultural education, hit the ground running August 1st after a few days' training with Maureen O'Brien, who retired this summer. MHP Graduate Coordinator James Reap recently went to Tallinn, Estonia to participate an International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) conference. The conference's theme was Historical Perspective of Heritage Legislation: Balance Between Laws and Values and commemorated the 350th Anniversary of the 1666 Act by King Charles XI of Sweden which was one of the earliest heritage protection acts in Europe.
