Donnie is a landscape architect, entrepreneur and educator with over 20 years of experience as both a practitioner and educator. During his time as senior lecturer at the UGA College of Environment and Design, he has taught almost every course in the BLA curricula. He also teaches professional practice and construction documentation. In addition to his responsibilities as Senior Lecturer, he is also Coordinator for CED Continuing Education Programs. Each year, the Landscape Short Course and Georgia LARE Review provide continuing education and exam prep for over 150 registered and aspiring landscape architects.

This workshop will cover the LARE Section 4 specifications, including a primer on grading techniques, one of the most challenging parts of the exam. This session debunks myths, clarifies expectations, and demonstrates how to develop a clear and effective process for taking the exam.

Jessica is an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia. Her teaching and research incorporate emerging technologies such as big data and VR/AR to explore the people-place relationship in the public realm. As a licensed landscape architect, she has over a decade of experience working on a variety of nationwide award-winning projects. She owns ALPHA Design studio where she applies her teaching and research in the design and building industry.

This session will demystify big data through sharing workflows of various projects and learning ways the synthesis and visualization of open source and privileged data benefit landscape architecture.

As an artist and designer Cameron Berglund applies his passion for landscape architecture through professional practice and education both domestically and abroad. Focusing professionally on thematic and educational environments he has worked on signifigant projects ranging from the Alice H. Richards Children's Garden, at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia to the Disney Explorer's Resort in Hong Kong. An avid sketcher and architectural illustrator, he uses both traditional and digital graphics as an active member of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators. He recently started a full-time lecture position at the University of Georgia's College of Environment and Design.

Elyna Grapstein
MLA Candidate

Elyna Grapstein is a third-year MLA candidate at the University of Georgia. She is broadly interested in landscape connectivity, winning the battle against invasive annual grasses, and joining scientific fluency with design work to protect the natural world. Her thesis research pertains to the karstic geohydrology of southwestern Georgia. She is currently working to develop a design methodology that is specific to aquifer protection in carbonate limestone systems.
